'The total cost of mental ill health to UK employers was estimated at £26 billion, costing £1,035 per employee per year in 2007' (DeLoitte, 2017)

'"...By practicing meditation, we can play an active role in changing the brain and can increase our well-being and quality of life,” Britta Hölzel'  ('Mindfulness practice leads to increases in regional brain grey matter density', Hölzel et al, Massachusetts General Hospital, 2011)

With employee wellbeing no longer a ‘nice to have’ and companies increasingly having to evidence the support they are providing their teams, the invitation exists to bring in a dynamic and creative approach to mindfulness and presence in the workplace.

Introducing Mala Beads & Meditation with Chant Malas

I am a passionate advocate of passing on the joy and therapeutic benefits of making and using a set of mala beads to aid focus, concentration and overall well-being.

Having practised mantra meditation for around six years, I have experienced first-hand the positive changes that can come from this form of meditation, not just in life but as a way of developing further self-care practices.

Mantra meditation doesn’t have to be ‘scary’ or esoteric and I am committed to teaching this practice in an accessible way that leaves each individual feeling like they have an extra tool to show up in a clearer, more present way in all areas of their lives.

'I feel grateful for all the love shared in this workshop.  I'm amazed and proud of myself by watching the way I was creative in this workshop.  Thank you Helen for all your support and kindness.  I really recommend.' (workshop participant, Portsmouth)

These workshops and meditations are perfect as standalone activities for staff, to enhance ‘wellbeing weeks’, to fit into an augment a conference schedule e.g. breakout session or anteroom activity.

The benefits of meditation are wide-ranging and include:

  • Better quality sleep and rest time outside the workplace
  • Reduced levels of anxiety and stress
  • A more focused mind
  • Improved cardiovascular and nervous system performance
  • A higher degree of self-awareness and empathy for others so that challenging scenarios don’t turn into tense environments.

With these improvements in mind, each company or team will have its own objectives and themes it would like its people to explore and I tailor each session to align with these. E.g. Reduced stress, creative thinking, innovation, productivity, problem solving, reducing distractions, communication and connection and so on.

Other practices that can be incorporated into workshops are:

Breath work: Best for calming the nervous system, managing challenging situations, when easy effective tools are needed, self confidence, instant clarity.

Yoga Nidra: Visualisation and creativity, letting answers emerge, dissolving inertia, reset after stressful projects, post pitch recharge, team cohesion and pulling together.

Examples of workshops I offer include but are not limited to:

I offer a variety of workshops covering not just mala beads and mantra meditation, but also meditation practices such as breath work and yoga inspired gentle movement to promote balance in all ways and manage distractions.

'Helen is a great teacher, so warm, patient and calm.  Really loved learning how to make my very own, unique mala - so wonderful.  She shares her knowledge and passion for it.' (Workshop participant, Hove)

How it works…

  • You provide me with a brief to which I respond with a proposal specific to you and your business
  • The workshops can be held in almost any space and I bring all tools and materials
  • Ideally there will be light refreshments so that participants feel comfortable as they complete the activities

Why choose me?

  • I have been creating mala beads for almost five years now and, being a practitioner myself, have a wealth of knowledge about the practice.
  • My designs are stocked in a number of studios and spas across the country including Triyoga in London, Bamford Haybarn Spa in the Cotswolds and Avalon Health and Wellbeing spa in Skipton, Yorkshire.
  • As an ex-inner city school teacher, I understand what it is like to work in a busy and demanding environment and yet be present and stay focused by using these practices
